Shakespeare’s Globe: Summer of Love

During May/June I saw two shows at the Globe in London: Romeo and Juliet and Twelfth Night. These were both part of the Globe’s seasonal programme: Summer of Love.

Twelfth night has been produced by a number of different big theatres this year. For example, the National Theatre’s production earlier this year was very highly reviewed.

I really enjoyed the globe’s production, and this opinion is shared by a number of reviewers. It made for a great evening, and was really fun/lighthearted.

After seeing Twelfth Night, I was back again to see Romeo and Juliet. While definitely darker, I enjoyed seeing one of Shakespeare’s most established plays in a new light. Also, Romeo and Juliet was the first play I had ever seen in the globe, so it felt quite nostalgic!
